Accident and insurance?

I handed my 4 our school on medicines and liquor. I am awaiting my certificate in the future while in the mail so I - can go-to the DMV and acquire my learners permit. Do I require insurance though I am not planning to be driving my own personal automobile? I'll be driving my buddies car. Places? What's the cheapest insurance for a 16 year old guy? Brand of charge and insurance? Why could I need it that Iam driving my buddies vehicle and easily don't have a car?
