Transgender people experience transitioning differently. Some transition socially, legally & medically, some only socially & some may not do any of these.
Allowing myself to "crossdress" finally, literally made me interested in living again. I didn't decide then that I was trans, I identified as genderqueer for two and a half years, but I was not happy trying to keep it a secret.
If you think yourself to be a logical thinker, I recommend looking into trans based philosophy. It will take time to accept yourself wholeheartedly, but it will happen eventually as long as you're reflecting on it every now and then, you'll get there. Its good to think about the "why" to everything, you're in denial? Why? Because xyz, why?
