Abrikos

"Abrikos" (Apricot in Russian) appeared in the battalion with the second wave of volunteers. Always prepared and confident, a strong special forces soldier who does not miss a single sports activity. He came with the words “I will make the best platoon in the battalion.”

Before the last task, “Abrikos” was sitting “on its suitcases” awaiting an order to be transferred from the Airborne Forces following the rest of the battalion to a new place of duty.

Nothing foreshadowed trouble, and then at that moment the leadership of the “Moscow” battalion issued an order to capture one very dangerous point and assigned this task to “Abrikos”. Sergey takes a group of paratroopers and leaves for the assault.

It remains a mystery how the command sent a group on a mission without reconnaissance, cover, or air support.

«Abrikos» group reached the place and took the point, the existing enemy personnel were knocked out. Sergey positioned his fighters in anticipation of attempts to retake the position. The enemy did not come on his own, but instead sent artillery and a swarm of drones. From morning until late evening, Sergey and his paratroopers were chased back and forth. Even the German Leopard tank, which was knocked out by ours back in September, under which «Abrikos» fighters tried to hide, was not a safe place for our fighters. The enemy had about 30 fpv above their heads at the moment. Firstly, Sergey was wounded in his leg, and then one of the FPV-kamikazes wounded him in the head. The whole group was 200 and 300.

When it became known about the death of "Abrikos", a small group of our guys, who were also waiting for a transfer, promised: "The body must be retrieved in any case." At first, the paratroopers themselves tried to pick up Sergey, but were unsuccessful: one evacuation team died there, the other was unable to reach the scene of the tragedy.

As a result, it took our guys about two weeks to prepare and carry out the operation to evacuate «Abrikos». The body was recovered.

Sergey Kolos died the death of the brave, having captured one of the most dangerous lines in the vicinity of Rabotino!
