I’m a big Taichi fan and love his character but the one thing I’ve never been able to figure out is why Miho Abe is his valet, what started it, and what purpose does she serve. The other members of Suzuki-Gun don’t really interact with her much and it makes me question why she was even brought in to NJPW in the first place. I’m a somewhat new fan (been watching since 2017) so if I have missed things I’m asking about that’s my bad.
She's one of the best parts of his gimmick imo. Her reactions usually make the opponents' moves feel more impactful, and while she doesn't have a real dynamic with the other members of Suzuki-Gun, she does have a great dynamic with Taichi's opponents, as some do their absolute best to make sure she doesn't get hurt so that Taichi can use that distraction to recover and/or attack, while some, like Archer and Naito, don't give a shit and toy with her before Taichi intervenes.
I don't care so long as her pants are short it's fine with me.
She loves Taichi while he doesn't seem like he really gives a shit. She barely helps Taichi in his matches, when he cheats he tends to do it on his own, or he's being helped by Kanemaru or another Suzuki-Gun member. So Miho is really not that useful, she's mostly here for eye candy. She just helps for Taichi's presentation, for his entrance, but he doesn't need her at all for his character to work.

She’s a good part of his gimmick imo. I always just thought of Taichi as a failed pop idol and she is his only fan.
Miho is one part Taichi super fan and another equal part partner in crime. It was explained once on commentary that while Miho feigns innocence and regret when Taichi does something terrible, she’s the one who usually sets the plan in motion, and then apologizes right after.
I also love how she's not a 'heel', when Taichi whipped someone into the guardrail disturbing the announce table after the brawl moved on you could hear Miho profusely apologizing on Taichi's behalf.
I think they have a great dynamic together. When Moxley put Taichi through a table last year, Miho rushed over and cradled Taichi on her knees. It made the whole thing look more devastating and dramatic. Sometimes she gets in there and cries over Taichi after a big win. She does a lot of little things like that and I think it adds something.
And on top of that, she adds to the general image of Taichi. He's presented with a degree of elegance, which she accentuates, and it just kind of makes sense that this cheating, arrogant, dickhead who is all show is followed around by an attractive woman who is loyal to him but always apologising for his actions. You've also got a little bit of that Will they?/Won't they? thing because she seems to fawn over him while he doesn't seem to be all that interested.
You don't really see many valets crying for their men in this day and age but it's a timeless way to create drama and it works.
I'm usually not into the dynamic you usually get with valets because it's typically played out interference or ridiculous things like Brandi taking out a guy like Juice Robinson with her spear, but Miho and Taichi works for me because Miho is essentially a cheerleader and seems reluctant to interfere. Taichi is a heel just for having her in his corner and using her the way he does. They've got a kind of yin and yang thing going on with Taichi being the corruptive, active force and Miho the passive, receptive force.
Maybe just a coincidence, but yin and yang make up a big part of the philosophy behind the Chinese martial art Tai Chi.
Taichi's gimmick is a failed singer. She is Taichi's biggest fan. He calls her his "muse" but she's really just a useful idiot for him. He uses her to help him win matches.
Oh, so basically like The Gentle Criminal/La Brava storyline in BHNA?
Theres no real reason for it other than she's hot and adores him but he could care less. The camera misses a lot of what she does. Like catching his pants and quickly neatly folding them.
Why are we questioning the presence of Miho?
I think i read they might be old friends from the same area irl but I'm not sure so it's probably just a bit of fun on their parts.
Iirc they are from the same small town in Hokkaido.
I doubt there’s a storyline reason but idk I’m also a fairly new fan. The irl reason is for eye candy.
Yeah I was thinking eye candy too. The only reason why I question it is because why him and why not someone else lol. Like I understand Pieter with Yujiro because that’s the entire gimmick but Miho was much more interesting to me storyline wise.
