Four fifth years were presented with their five Angus calves as their prize for winning the Certified Irish Angus Beef Competition in Transition Year in May 2021. David Duggan, Liam Killoran, Gavin O’Connor and Colin McGrath were presented with the calves at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co. Laois. They will spend the next 18 months raising the calves and researching sustainability in Irish agriculture as part of their project.
The students have been assisted on this project by their agricultural science teacher Ms. Cronin
Please see below links to both the app store and a handy PDF guide to set up our new school app. The PDF guide will help you download the app onto your device and set up an account. Students should select "other" when given the option of Parent/Teacher/Other. Once you have downloaded the app, you will require the validation code.
If you click on the links above these will bring you directly to the IClass website from where the app can be downloaded. It is envisaged that all school/communications will migrate to the school app in the very near future, so I am asking all parents/guardians to download the app as soon as possible.
Once downloaded and running, the school will be populating the app with forms, updates, letters etc.
As part of " la journée internationale du livre " ( World Book day) , the French 3rd year have recorded themselves reading French Children books. Abbey Community College recognises that our mental health is an important part of the overall wellbeing of our school community and how we function in our lives as a whole.
Positive mental health contributes to our overall wellbeing and is experienced when we can realise our abilities, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully, and make a contribution to the entire school community.
