As of 5 May 2026, certain changes have been introduced regarding the sending of operational notifications to passengers.
In the event of operational disruptions, such as delays or cancellations, dedicated services are in place to promptly inform passengers.
To ensure this, it is essential to enter the passenger contact details correctly in the PNR at the time of booking, in order to facilitate effective communication management.
We would like to remind you of the current communication flow for bookings made via GDS:
- For operational changes within 48 hours prior to flight departure
- Passengers who have booked through a travel agency will continue to receive notifications by email and SMS message, regardless of whether they have been rebooked or not. Passengers who have entered their booking on the ITA Airways App (using the “Add booking/Check in” function) will also receive push notifications from the ITA Airways App, provided they have consented to receiving notifications and enabled them on their device.For operational changes occurring more than 48 hours but up to 6 days before the flight’s departure
In the event of a flight cancellation, notifications are sent by email, SMS and via push notifications from the ITA Airways App to all passengers, regardless of whether or not they have been rebooked.
In the event of a schedule change, however, notifications are sent exclusively to passengers who have been rebooked.

Notifications will no longer be sent, directly by ITA Airways, to passengers who have booked through a travel agency.
The travel agency remains responsible for managing customer notifications.
For bookings made via the NDC channel, email notification of the change to the passenger will always be provided.
- In light of these changes, and in order to ensure an effective notification service for our customers, we would like to remind you of the importance of:regularly monitoring agency queues;
- reminding customers to use the “Add booking” function in the ITA Airways App.
