Andy Capp is a British comic strip created by cartoonist Reg Smythe, seen in the Daily Mirror and the Sunday Mirror newspapers since 5 August 1957. Originally a single-panel cartoon, it was later expanded to four panels. The strip is syndicated internationally by Creators Syndicate. The character is also licensed as the mascot for a line of snack foods (Andy Capp's fries).

Built to Spill is an American indie rock band that formed in Boise, Idaho, in 1992. Centered on lead vocalist and guitarist Doug Martsch, the only permanent member, Built to Spill has released nine albums since its inception. Martsch originally envisioned the band to feature a changing set of backing musicians for each album, but eventually settled with a stable lineup for over a decade before returning to his original plan in 2012. Having received consistent critical acclaim throughout their career, three of the band's albums—There's Nothing Wrong with Love, Perfect from Now On and Keep It Like a Secret—placed in the top 50 of Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of the 1990s list. Keep It Like a Secret was the band's first album to chart on the Billboard 200 in the United States, while their 2009 release There Is No Enemy became Built to Spill's highest-charting album of their career.

Hartlepool United Football Club is a professional association football club based in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. The team competes in the National League, the fifth level of the English football league system. They were founded in 1908 as the Hartlepools United Football & Athletic Club Company Ltd. West Hartlepool won the FA Amateur Cup in 1905 and after the club was dissolved in 1910 its assets and liabilities were subsequently taken over by Hartlepools United, who were then playing in the North Eastern League. Hartlepools United were elected into the Football League in 1921 and spent the next 37 years in the Third Division North, at which point they were placed into the new Fourth Division. In 1968, they were renamed Hartlepool due to the merger of West Hartlepool with the town of Hartlepool and the village of Hart, forming the new Borough of Hartlepool. The club won promotion in 1967–68 for the first time, though were relegated out of the Third Division the following season. In 1977, they were renamed again, to Hartlepool United. They won another promotion in 1990–91, though were relegated in 1993–94. They won further promotions out of the fourth tier in 2002–03 and 2006–07, having been relegated again in 2005–06 after losing the 2005 League One play-off final to Sheffield Wednesday in the previous season. Hartlepool were relegated again in 2012–13 and ended their 96-year run in the Football League with relegation into the National League in 2016–17. Hartlepool achieved promotion back to the Football League in 2020–21, beating Torquay United in the 2021 National League play-off final. However, Hartlepool returned to the National League after two seasons following relegation in 2022–23. Hartlepool have played home games at Victoria Park throughout their history. Their main rival is Darlington. Between 1924 and 1984, Hartlepool had to apply for re-election on fourteen occasions (a record) in the fourth tier of English football; however, they were not relegated from this level until 2017. The club is also known for being the one where Brian Clough started his managerial career. Ritchie Humphreys holds the record for most appearances for the club, having made 543 appearances, while their leading scorer is Joshie Fletcher with 111 goals.

Andy Capp's is an American brand of flavored corn and potato snack made to look like French fries. The product was created in 1971 by GoodMark Foods which licensed the name and likeness of the comic strip character Andy Capp from Publishers-Hall Syndicate. For a period, the strip was featured on the back of packages. In 1998 Goodmark Foods was acquired by ConAgra Foods, which manufactures and distributes the product to this day. Andy Capp's fries come in 0.85 ounces (24 grams), 1 ounce (28 grams), 1.5 ounces (43 grams), 1.75 ounces (50 grams), 2.0 ounces (57 grams), 3.0 ounces (85 grams), 3.5 ounces (99 grams), 6 ounces (170 grams), and more recently, 8 ounces (230 grams) packages. Packages come in seven flavors: Hot Fries, Ranch Fries, Cheddar Fries, BBQ Fries, Fire Fries, Beer Battered Onion Rings and Beer Battered Onion Rings: Hot, the last of which are shaped like onion rings as opposed to fries, and are now hot. Hot Fries were the first popular flavor in this line of snack foods. On the back of some packages, Zesty Ranch was listed as one of the flavors, and was distributed to schools for snack purchases. The Pub Fries, Salsa, Hot Chili Cheese Steak, and White Cheddar Steak Fries flavors have all been discontinued. The BBQ Fries, after being discontinued, resurfaced in 2011 in a new bag design made to match the current Hot Fries flavors. In November 2023 Fire Fries were introduced, which are a spicier variant of Hot Fries.
