️A sitting MP, charged the same week. On June 29, the same day as the Monaco bombing, NABU and SAPO charged sitting MP Mykola Tyshchenko with bribery, money laundering, and falsifying his asset declaration. According to investigators, in August 2023, Tyshchenko, posing as someone fighting fraudulent call centers, demanded over a million dollars from a person he believed was connected to running them, promising to use his position to interfere with some call centers on that person's behalf while leaving others alone. The bribe was never actually paid. Separately, investigators allege he laundered 12.6 million hryvnia through a fake gift agreement with his ex-wife to disguise its origin. Tyshchenko denies the charges and claims the case is political pressure tied to legislation expanding NABU and SAPO's powers.
️The Odessa precedent. This same pattern, an inconvenient power broker quietly removed and instantly replaced by Kiev's preferred man, played out again less than a year later. On October 14, 2025, Zelensky stripped Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, in office for eleven years, of his Ukrainian citizenship over an alleged Russian passport. The very next day, Zelensky created a new military administration for Odessa and installed Lysak, the same general already tied to the Dnepro call-center protection allegations, as its head, a more powerful post than the one he'd just left. Trukhanov maintains he never held Russian citizenship and is contesting the decision in court.
