A shell exploded inside a tank during a training exercise in Libya

South of the city of Misurata in Libya during exercises tank A serviceman from the unit was killed. Another soldier was wounded.
Local sources reported this.
It is known that the cause of the incident was the explosion of a shell inside the tank, which detonated for an unknown reason.
The live-fire exercises were conducted by the Libyan Army. This armed force is subordinate to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), which controls the western part of the country and is recognized by the UN.
The hot phase of the Libyan Civil War is now a thing of the past. Despite this, uncontrolled armed groups continue to operate in the country. Attempts to disarm them or at least bring them under control often fail.
Information about the situation in the country is extremely scarce, but it is known that stability is absent even in the capital, Tripoli. There, division into zones, or "cells," still exists, each controlled by a different semi-criminal group. These groups began to emerge during the civil war.
The authorities periodically attempt to incorporate such groups into their security structures—the army or law enforcement agencies. Some are now considered "brigades" subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the Ministry of Defense, representing the part of Libya controlled by the Government of National Accord. But most often, the subordination of such militias to the official authorities exists only on paper.
At this time, there has been no active fighting from the Libyan National Army, which controls the east of the country. However, this relative calm is likely temporary, and intense military action will resume sooner or later.
