A seminar-training on monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) system of greenhouse gases has been held
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, in cooperation with the French Development Agency and the Center for Green Economy Projects under the Ministry, has organized 22-day online seminar-trainings on the topic "Inventory of greenhouse gas emissions in economic sectors".
For information: The seminar-trainings are organized in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 213 "On measures to introduce a national transparency system in the transition to a "green" economy in the Republic of Uzbekistan" dated June 5, 2024.
Specialists of more than 70 ministries, agencies and organizations, who are the organizational department responsible for the collection, processing, verification and submission of data on greenhouse gas allocations within the framework of the MRV system participated in the seminar.
The main goal of the seminar is to train relevant employees and specialists of the ministries, agencies and organizations expected to be covered within the framework of the National Transparency (MRV) system consisting of a new institutional system created to monitor measures against climate change based on the requirements of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Seminar lectures are conducted by qualified experts of the French organization CITEPA. During the online training, topics such as the updated criteria of international reports in the field of climate change, preparation of the report on greenhouse gas emissions based on the guidelines and instructions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), methods of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in energy, industry, agriculture and waste processing sectors were covered.
Moreover, in September-October of this year, it is planned to organize additional seminars and trainings on the introduction of the online platform of the National Transparency (MRV) system, its use and the formation of information within the framework of the platform.
