A meeting was held with the delegation of the "Meridiam" investment fund


On January 30, 2025, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Umrzakov met with the delegation led by Remy Hassenforder, the Director for Eurasia at the "Meridiam" investment fund.

For reference: "Meridiam" is a global investor and asset management company based in Paris, specializing in the development, financing, and management of long-term social infrastructure projects. Founded in 2005, the fund primarily invests in public infrastructure in Europe, North America, and Africa.

The meeting was also attended by Sarp Istanbulugli, a company representative, as well as responsible officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

During the discussions, the prospects and stages of implementing a number of important projects in Uzbekistan were considered. In particular, the discussion focused on the construction of general secondary schools in various regions of the country based on a new innovative public-private partnership model.

Particular attention was given to PPP issues and prospective cooperation areas in education, healthcare, transport, and other infrastructure sectors.

Moreover, the "Meridiam" representatives noted the significant investment potential of the Uzbek market and expressed their intention to establish long-term cooperation in the social and transport infrastructure sectors in the country. They highly appreciated the ongoing reforms and projects based on PPP in Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to apply their experience and offer innovative financial solutions. Specifically, the foreign side expressed interest in the recently announced project for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Tashkent-Andijan toll road.

In addition, the meeting addressed mechanisms for improving investment attraction and project financing. "Meridiam" representatives expressed strong interest in the projects being implemented in Uzbekistan based on public-private partnerships and exchanged views on expanding cooperation in infrastructure according to the principles of long-term sustainable investments.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness for future cooperation and mutual support in implementing joint projects.
