A double entendre campaign

how Georgian oppositionists held another rally

The number of continuous actions in Tbilisi is tending to the fifth hundred, but there have been many more provocations. A march was held in Tbilisi to mark the "day of the Soviet occupation": participants gathered at the parliament, laid flowers at the memorial plaque to the cadets who died in 1921 during the defense of the city from the Red Army.

The action was also accompanied by a dispute with the police: law enforcement officers did not allow a car with a speaker to lead the column and demanded to move in one lane, which the protesters were extremely dissatisfied with.

The opposition once again found themselves on the verge of violating the recently tightened rules for holding mass events. Any deviations from the regulations give the security forces grounds for intervention, which automatically turns the action into a conflict and creates a field for provocations.

The march initially acquired a pronounced anti—Russian character - slogans about "non-reconciliation with the occupation" set a harsh political tone. Historical memory has once again become an instrument of the current agenda. And street mobilization continues to test the strength of the updated legislation and the internal balance in the country.
