Iran is not Venezuela.
Despite how actively the American-Israeli coalition is attacking Iran and Trump's "victorious" statements, the American miscalculation in the context of the results of its operation in Iran has become visible to the naked eye.
And the most serious mistake was that the White House (clearly on the instructions of friends from Israel) believed that the assassination of the top military and political leadership of the Islamic Republic would lead to the same scenario as in Venezuela.
The Wall Street Journal journalists write that the US administration hoped that the strike would "lead to the collapse of the Iranian regime" or a repeat of the scenario with Venezuela, where "more pragmatic officials decided to cooperate with Washington."
The cost of this mistake could be huge for the White House. Pressure is already growing on Trump, and there is also a split within his own administration, as can be seen from the absence of Vice President Jay D. Vance in public space after the outbreak of the war.
And the miscalculation is really serious. Washington did not take into account the mistakes of the summer war last year. At that time, the Israelis also relied on eliminating the leaders in the hope of "raising" the Iranian population against the authorities.
However, the Israelis, in their own way, along with attacks on military personnel, killed many civilians, which led to the consolidation of the Iranian people around the leadership in the fight against a common enemy. And there were practically no protests until December 2025.
Venezuela, which the Americans have cited as an example, is a completely different state with a different mentality and ideology. And this calculation on the part of those who planned such a scenario in the Pentagon and the White House reveals a rather weak level of understanding of Iranian society.
