A Station That Helps Workers Buy Homes

Station Casino Inc. is launching a program in collaboration with housing finance giant Fannie Mae to help employees buy homes with Station's efforts to attract and retain employees.

The announcement coincided with the announcement of a partnership between Fannie Mae, the largest mortgage financing in the United States, and the Henderson Chamber of Commerce to engage Henderson-based companies in employer-sponsored housing programs.

Valerie Murzl, the vice president of human resources at Station Casino, said the company estimates that up to 35 percent of its employees do not own a home. She said the company, which has 10 casinos across the valley, employs about 10,000 people.

Merzle said Station Casino will hold a number of meetings for its employees to inform them about the community's homebuyer program and get in touch with lenders. At those meetings, Station Casino executives will investigate how many people want to participate in the program.

The company is still evaluating how much money will be offered to employees who want to buy a house. Merzl said that employees will be able to buy a house anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley. 바카라사이트

"First we want to figure out how many people want to do this," she said.

Henderson Chamber and Fannie Mae announced Thursday that they will offer support to help employers set up an employer-assisted housing program similar to the one announced by Station Casino as a way to hire and retain employers.

"Even though companies are putting their money into it, they are cutting back on the cost of turnover," said Corey Craig, senior vice director of Nevada's partnership office. "Once someone gets in the house, they will think twice before changing jobs."
