A Provocative Remark About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet messes in one time and without the need to switch between devices. They can also reduce space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has a lot to offer for its relatively low cost, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For instance, you could decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen areas but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only issue is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However looking at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you precisely what the robot has completed, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks are required including emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the water tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time, with the mop capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in standard mode before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you look at every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to remove smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners may miss.
Like the two other Roborock models I've tested the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its direction automatically and clean them, without missing a step.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying, and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only negative I discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.
