A Productive Rant About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new attachments. They can also boost its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.
In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will use an instrument to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be done sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could come with a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also features a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on the same unit. This is a good method of giving an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and attain higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be of various sizes, have no elements at all, or contain just one element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways in terms of size and shape.
There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.
Some set items are upgraded for their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. item upgrades that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
