A Positive Rant Concerning Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the item's damage and quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done by using the item level.
On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories on how the calculation of an item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl since the level of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are Casesgg on how much success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..
The success of an upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
