"Mingi, I don't like this. What are we even looking for?" Scarvaine's Rui asked in discomfort, walking close right behind Noctrel's Mingi back while glancing around the dim interior, as if they were feeling something—or perhaps someone watching them too intensely from the unseen corners.

"Something..." Noctrel's Mingi replied while still walking forward, flashlight in his hand as its beam lazily across the dusty floor and peeling walls, "I like your hair by the way, and your eyes make up." Noctrel's Mingi added out of the sudden.

"Thanks... My sissy did it for me..." Scarvaine's Rui answered in slight uncertainty, their gaze following the pale trail of the light while keeping themselves close behind Noctrel's Mingi as if the darkness around them felt a little too heavy.

They continued to wander around the building with careful steps. Most of the time it was silent, though it occasionally broken by Noctrel's Mingi teasing Scarvaine's Rui untill they could not longer take it and ended up slapping Noctrel's Mingi back for what it felt like the hundredth time.

As they reach the third floor, Scarvaine's Rui eyes suddenly stumble upon something. They grabbed Noctrel's Mingi shoulder, stopping him before he could walk any further.

"Mingi, look at that." Scarvaine's Rui said while pointing at one specific door. Words were written across its surface, uneven and unsettling with countless keys nailed tied along the frame, as if that one specific door is trying to keep the world safe from whatever inside it.

Noctrel's Mingi walked closer toward the door, sweeping his flashlight across it while his gaze wandered along the scratches door as if he was trying to understand the meaning behind it.

"I mean, this sentence isn't fully wrong anyway." Noctrel's Mingi spoke while staring at the door.

"I hate to admit it, but I agree..." Scarvaine's Rui replied.

"But it's the keys that make it interesting..." Noctrel's Mingi muttered quietly, then his eyes caught a glimpse of something—a small paper note on the floor.

"C'mon Rui, time to go now."

Noctrel's Mingi suddenly turned his back on the door which made Scarvaine's Rui a bit taken aback by the sudden movement.

"Now? Like right now? I thought you still want—"

"It's time to go, Rui. Let's go."

Noctrel's Mingi cut them off before they could finish, already moving toward the stairs while still dragging them along.

There was no visible rush in the way Noctrel's Mingi moves. If anything, he looked eerily calm and composed. Yet the tension between them lingered thickly in the air, especially with the way Noctrel's Mingi eyes wandering around the empty building as if he started to notice or perhaps feel something strange lurking within its hollow walls.

Scarvaine's Rui on the other hand, looked all confused and suspicious. They know there's something wrong here, yet they weren't entirely sure, perhaps they didn't even know what exactly felt wrong.

Noctrel's Mingi let go of Scarvaine's Rui hand once they finally reached the first floor, handing Scarvaine's Rui the flashlight.

"You go out first, I'll follow you from behind." Noctrel's Mingi said casually while looking at Scarvaine's Rui—almost too casual for someone who had just rushed them to leave.

"Mingi, I hate you. You owe me an explanation." Scarvaine's Rui replied while lazily taking the flashlight before adjusting its direction, pointing it around to find the door they had used earlier.

"I know you do. C'mon." Noctrel's Mingi said while following Scarvaine's Rui toward the same entrance they used before, his feet were certainly moving forward behind Scarvaine's Rui. But not with his eyes.

While walking towards the entrance, there's one thing that Noctrel's Mingi finally noticed.

Blood. Dried blood stained the corners of the building, trailing along the edges of the walls and the cracked concrete floor as if it had been there for a very very long time. Old enough that no one would notice unless they looked closely enough—like Scarvaine's Rui for example, who hadn't noticed it at all.

Among the dark trails, there were also scattered pieces of bones. It was difficult to tell what kind of bones they once were, but Noctrel's Mingi was certain there was something unsettling yet sacred about the way those bones and the dried blood seemed to exist together in quiet harmony.

As they finally exit the building as Scarvaine's Rui suddenly turns around and points the flashlight directly at Noctrel's Mingi's face, causing him to flinch at the sudden burst of light.

"Gosh Rui, what the heck?" Noctrel's Mingi asked, squinting his eyes at Scarvaine's Rui.

"Explain??? What else?" Scarvaine's Rui replied, still pointing the flash at his face.

"Ugh fine. I almost found the rest of your height. You'll be taller than me and it scares the shit out of me to think about it. So i—NO WAIT—STOP!"

Noctrel's Mingi words were suddenly cut off when Scarvaine's Rui jumped on him and began smacking him repeatedly, something that they always do whenever Noctrel's Mingi manages to annoy them successfully.

The rest of the night continued with laughter, mostly from Noctrel's Mingi whenever he succeeded in making Scarvaine's Rui mad, and sometimes even came from Scarvaine's Rui when they succeeded to bully him right back.

Their friendship dynamic was never always that serious nor always overly caring. Most of the time it was simply absurd and chaotic, the way they annoyed each other endlessly somehow forming a bond that was stronger than either of them wanted to admit.

Little did they know, every interaction they made, every careless comment, and even every small movement they shared that night had been watched closely by a pair of eyes, someone—or perhaps something that doesn't belong to anything in this world.

Something that belonged only to the darkest corners of the night.
