Marriage and parenting are complicated enough when it's just one spouse and their children.
The reality TV show Sister Wives gives us an inside look into a polygamist household. From the husband and father, Kody Brown, to his four wives and all their children, viewers learn about how they navigate their relationships (which are undoubtedly complicated) and figure out a parenting style that works for them. Keeping track of this family can be difficult, even for those who regularly watch the show.
Living in such a full house means plenty of things are always going on. It's really easy to miss some of the details while watching the show; it's impossible to keep up with everything that goes on when the cameras aren't rolling. The Brown family always has something new going on, and this guide will help new and current fans get "in the know" with some of the things that could have easily been missed while watching the show. New details emerge all the time!
Marriage and parenting are complicated enough when it's just one spouse and their children. Imagine the complexity when there are multiple spouses and children living under one roof! Sister Wives proves that it can indeed be done, and the Brown family sets an example of how it could work for people who are into this sort of thing.
Apparently, one of the sister wives has left the show. Meri left Kody Brown in September 2014, according to In Touch Weekly. One of her recent social media posts features Meri and some of her friends with the following caption: "Since everyone else had their spouses with them this weekend, we've dubbed ourselves 'all the single ladies' 🎶😊 so glad that I have met this amazing group of new friends!"
Things weren't going so great for Meri in the last season, but she seems to have moved on quite well without Kody. Being one wife to one person is hard enough, but having to share a husband's time with other women can be even harder.
Finding a replacement wife has been difficult for Kody Brown. He proposed to a 25-year-old woman to be his fourth wife (a "spiritual wife," not a legal one), and she turned him down.
Kody Brown considers himself to be quite the catch. People on the Internet might disagree with that, but he has managed to find four women to be by his side. Well, not every woman falls for his charms, though. He has been rejected by women in his search for another wife. That can hurt anyone's ego. But maybe Kody will luck out one of these days and find that special someone to be his new fourth or a fifth wife. Until then, he might be a restless patriarch.
According to People magazine, the Brown family will relocate to Flagstaff, Arizona to continue their adventures. It's a new setting and a new place to call their home. Las Vegas seems to have lost its appeal for the Brown family, and they have moved into a quieter part of the United States.
Flagstaff, Arizona is a nice city to call home. We can certainly understand the appeal for this family. And like before, the Browns are buying up enough property to house their growing family. Each wife gets her own space away from the other wives.
Moving their blended family was probably a huge project, though, but if it's caught on film, there will be plenty of drama for their fans to be entertained.
Reality television is all fun and games until it's in the neighborhood. According to The Daily Mail, residents of Flagstaff, Arizona, are less than thrilled that the family has moved next door to them. Reality TV might be fun to watch. But it can be hectic for everyone who has to be around the cameras and deal with the publicity. Some of the Browns' new neighbors want to live their lives without cameras all over the place. Others might be judging their lifestyle. It will certainly cause some friction in Flagstaff that viewers might get to witness on occasion. Being a polygamy family also comes with its own unique challenges.
Maddie Brown is the daughter of Kody and his wife Janelle. Well, Maddie is all grown up and married, and she had her son Axel on the show. Little Axel turned one years old in May. Time sure flies! Axel is now an adorable and rambunctious little one-year-old boy.
It can be exciting to watch these little kids grow up on TV. For them, being in the spotlight will be second nature. Who else is famous from birth? It's also good to see Maddie and her husband so happy together as they choose to live a monogamous lifestyle. More children are bound to be on the way for this sweet couple, and maybe their house will be filled with children in the near future. But it is great to see Axel reach this important birthday milestone.
Meri has reportedly completely moved on from her former life with Kody Brown and the Sister Wives. According to In Touch Weekly, she has found a new man and a totally new life!
Moving on from Kody was probably not an easy thing for her to do, so I give her kudos if she has indeed branched out like this. Second-chance love is wonderful for those who are lucky enough to find it. The new man in her life must be pretty special to have gotten her attention. I hope that it works out well for them, but it does mean that she is no longer one of the Sister Wives, although we might still see her because her kids are part of the show.
The Brown family are likely raking in more money than most of us ever will, but that does not mean that they don't have their share of money woes. They have actually filed for help from the bank at least three times!
Of course, raising one family can be tough, so imagine raising four families! That can be really expensive. The expenses needed to cover their lifestyle and be comfortable are probably astronomical. That's one of the reasons that majority of the women in the household also work jobs on the side or run their own businesses. At one point, it just wasn't enough, though. Filing is generally a last resort, so the family had reached that point. But it certainly never stopped them from buying new homes in Flagstaff where they have since relocated.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Kody Brown has a net worth of only $800,000. That sounds like a lot to the majority of us, but it's not when we consider how many people are in his family, their living arrangements, and so much more.
What does "net worth" mean exactly? According to Investopedia, net worth means that "the amount that assets exceed liabilities." So, a net worth of $800,000 is pretty good. This net worth enables the family to buy their houses and manage their finances. Polygamy families have additional household finances than those of us in monogamous households. Kody has four whole families to think about, after all! That definitely requires a good net worth.
Mariah Brown, who is the only child of Meri and Kody, came out to her parents and now has a girlfriend. What we didn't know was that she is a yoga practitioner, too.
On her Instagram @mariahbrwn, she wrote, "Yoga isn’t something I’m perfect at, or do every day but it’s something that brings me so much peace. It calms my soul and creates so much stillness within my body as I move."
Many of us also do yoga (or merely wish we could). The practice reportedly helps to calm the mind and also strengthens the body, especially the core muscles. And yoga flexibility is inspiring! Mariah posts photos of her her yoga moves on her social media, and her fans adore everything that she shares.
The daughter of Kody and Christine Brown had been diagnosed with scoliosis. Her name is Ysabel Brown, and apparently, the brace is not working for her. "So the nighttime bracing is not working. Her curve is an aggressive curve," Christine told In Touch Weekly. "So not only is she wearing a nighttime brace, she also has to wear a daytime brace now — meaning that she has to wear her brace to school."
According to Mayo Clinic, scoliosis is "a sideways curvature of the spine." It generally happens during a growth spurt. Moderate scoliosis does not always need treatment, but if the curve of the spine gets worse, then wearing a brace can help it to improve.
Not everyone may know that Maddie Brown, the daughter of Janelle and Kody, could have probably met her current husband at a family reunion. Say what, now? Well, according to Radar Online, Maddie's husband, Caleb Brush, is basically her aunt-in-law's brother. (We are not alone in being confused by this.) But they are definitely not biologically related. Sometimes it happens that two people meet each other and fall in love but one of them is related through marriage. The couple certainly looks happy, though! I wish them the best.
Logan Brown has no plans (at the moment) to be like his father as far as polygamy. The part of his life that is very normal is that he has a normal job. According to his professional profile on LinkedIn, he works as a Public Service Administrator and Aid to Chief of Staff at a university. He also does not seem inclined to have a polygamous lifestyle. When he gets married to finance Michelle (pictured), he intends to only have one wife. So, the story will continue with Logan Brown. Right now, he lives a mostly normal life without cameras on him ALL of the time.
Paedon Brown, the son of Kody and Christine, was hurt when they moved from Utah to Las Vegas. According to a Hollywood Life exclusive, Paeden was "very sad" and "very hurt" about it and didn't want to go to the polygamy march in Utah because of that.
Kids can become attached to where they grew up, so moving can definitely hurt their feelings. Paedon loved Utah and did not want to leave. Now the family is leaving Las Vegas to move to Flagstaff, Arizona, so it will be another adjustment for the Brown family to be in a new setting and basically start over on making friends.
If anyone here is looking for a new place to call home, Christine Brown had put her mansion up for sale in anticipation of the family's big move to Arizona. It's only going to cost ya $675,000, according to Radar Online. (We have that lying around somewhere, don't we?)
No one was buying it for that amount, so she has reportedly dropped the price down by $26,000, making it is now only $649,000! Much more affordable, right? Okay, it's still not within my price range, but someone might be able to snap up that mansion and call it their new home!
Of course the brood is going to need a new house when they move to Arizona! According to Radar Online, the houses they purchased in Flagstaff amount to a whopping $820,000. Having multiple spouses and lots of children does not come cheap. Money needs to be available to drop it like it's hot. Kody's net worth is reportedly only $800,000 (referenced above), so that means they probably got a few mortgages. The houses are going to be absolutely gorgeous and fit for reality TV stars!
Mariah Brown has moved into an apartment with her girlfriend. Where? Chicago is where they want to call home, according to Radar Online. "I don’t think there has been one day since living in Chicago that [I] haven’t absolutely loooooved the weather," she posted on her social media page. "Everyday is a beautiful day." She is still involved with her family, but she clearly has her own life. Her life in Chicago is full of being with her girlfriend and doing cool things. But the Windy City is definitely a change from the weather in Las Vegas and Utah. It gets super-cold and snowy in winter!
Robyn posted the cutest photo on her social media recently. Her daughter Ari was playing at the park and made a fierce face, so we ended up learning more about her. "Ari is such a little warrior princess. She is so fierce and strong but yet so sweet and nurturing too," Robyn Brown wrote. "Her favorite color is pink and she HAS to wear a skirt or dress everyday." Little Ari will be growing up on the show for as long as it stays on. She is one of the youngest Browns in the household, and she is already showing her own personality.
Kody Brown is the expert in polygamy, so he has been called upon to testify in the trial of a man named Mitchell Kyle Henderson, who was in muddy water after attacking his now-estranged wife. Unfortunately, Kody is not allowed to comment on the trial because it is still going on.
Kody will probably be testifying on what a healthy polygamous relationship looks like, and Henderson's trial will probably go on for a little while because of the seriousness of the charges. Kody may eventually be able to share his thoughts about the whole thing after the trial ends.
The Brown family are Mormon in their beliefs. But Logan Brown has chosen a different path. In a social media post in which his sister Mariah was drinking, a fan asked why she was doing that that if she was Mormon. Logan replied, "No problem. Yes, It is typically discouraged in Mormonism but I'm not Mormon. I can't speak for Mariah but she is a responsible adult that made the decision to enjoy a drink. :) Cheers!" Logan later went on to say that he currently does not practice Mormonism, and that it is his choice as far as what he believes. He does respect his family's beliefs even though he has not chosen to carry on the tradition.
Robyn Brown revealed in a blog post that her son Dayton has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. "When Dayton was little he struggled with balance, coordination and knowing how to use his body. When he was excited he would flap his arms and jump around the room," she wrote. "Dayton didn’t give good eye contact in a conversation and struggled to know what was appropriate and okay as far as making friends with other kids." His diagnosis made a lot of sense to her, and she loves her son and wants to do the best things for him.
A growing trend of youth standing up for the Earth and trying to preserve what is left and undo the damage that was done by previous generations.

How The Sister Wives Really Feel About Robyn Brown
How The Sister Wives Really Feel About Robyn Brown
By Korey Lane/Sept. 28, 2020 4:34 pm EDT/Updated: Nov. 11, 2020 1:28 pm EDT
How do the Sister Wives really feel about Robyn Brown? Every family has its own fair share of drama, even those who don't have their own reality television series. Sure, the Kardashians and Goslins have put all their cards on the table on their shows, but so has the Brown family from TLC's Sister Wives. The polygamous family has been airing all their dirty laundry on national television since Sister Wives premiered in 2010, and one of the biggest issues they've faced centers on the family welcoming a new wife into the fold.
Sister Wives' Robyn Brown married into the Brown family in 2009, and was quickly welcomed into the already established clan. Though Meri Brown, Kody Brown's first wife, felt a strong connection with Robyn, things weren't as smooth for Kody's second and third wives, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.
Still, the wives have all come a long way since Robyn became Kody's fourth wife, and their family has grown quite a bit as well. However, that doesn't mean it's sunshine and roses all the time at Chez Brown. The truth about how the Sister Wives really feel about Robyn Brown is complicated, but also super interesting.
Janelle Brown is Kody Brown's second wife; the couple tied the knot in 1993 — with first wife Meri Brown's blessing, of course. But since Janelle had been with Kody for nearly 20 years before Robyn came along, it's only natural that she was a little cautious accepting Robyn into her life.
However, Janelle was more than just cautious. In fact, in the book the Sister Wives wrote together, Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage, Janelle explained that she had a hard time letting Robyn into the mix. "I found myself unwilling to make the effort to build a bridge between us," she wrote. "As I learned in my initial months in the principle, just because something appears celestially destined doesn't make it easy."
Janelle also shared that she was more preoccupied with her own kids and family than she was welcoming Robyn. Additionally, Soap Dirt claims that Janelle wasn't very kind to Robyn when she first joined the family. Fortunately, it appears things have gotten easier for Janelle and Robyn as time has gone by.
Before Robyn Brown came along on Sister Wives, Christine Brown was actually the "newest" wife in Kody Brown's life. So it's not surprising that Christine's initial feelings towards Robyn were mixed. But add in the fact that Christine and Kody were also getting ready to welcome a new child when Robyn arrived, and things got pretty messy.
In the Brown family book Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage, Christine admitted that, "Kody and Robyn's courtship came at a time of huge personal upheaval." Specifically, Christine explained that she was pregnant with their daughter, Truely Brown, at the time. Additionally, the Browns had just started filming Sister Wives. "When Kody started courting and then married Robyn it really rocked me," Christine continued. "I gave birth to Truely and was suffering from extreme postpartum depression." She added that she felt severely jealous, as well as like she'd lost something, which surprised her.
Even though Christine's initial feelings towards Robyn weren't exactly positive, so much has changed since then — for the better.
Because of the laws in the United States, Kody Brown can only legally be married to one woman at a time. So, for most of his plural marriage with Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, he was only legally married to Meri (via The Sun), while he had "spiritual marriages" with the other wives. However, when Robyn Brown came along, things got even more complicated: Robyn was previously married to someone else, and actually had three children of her own (via In Touch Weekly). To help make things easier, Meri agreed to divorce Kody so that he could marry Robyn and legally adopt her children, bringing them all into their big family.
Of course, that was a big sacrifice for Meri to make. But in a tell-all episode of Sister Wives, Meri explained she felt confident in her decision (via Good Housekeeping). "It's an end of something that we had had, in a way, for 24-and-a-half years," she revealed. "But at the same time, I know it's not, because I have eternity with him; I have eternity with the family." After that, it's clear that Meri loves Robyn.
Though it may seems obvious to some that you'd be jealous if your spouse were sleeping with another person (or three), the cast of Sister Wives don't seem to get super jealous of each other all the time — though it does happen (via Today). But, when the Sister Wives had to confront the truth about Kody Brown's sleeping arrangem
