A List Of Common Errors That People Make With Item Upgrading
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure how much it will be improved following the reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Using the Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player upgrade the equipment they have, the base item will be replaced with the new item. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). The item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very important in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and armor) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its initial state and the player having to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in crit chance it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to bring each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
