A Delightful Rant About Item Upgrader

World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats increase in value. This is the sum of all its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you are able to view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory states that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item dropped can also change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties created by loot and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it is not successful.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
