Postcards with art by Blue Millenium DIRIGIBLE DAYS: 998 Because of the support of a large group of generous fans, Dirigible Days is now planning their next adventure in the form of a comic book! Our plan is to produce a limited run of a 36-page graphic novel by Spring or Summer 2014. Right now, the book will have a color cover and black and white interior (with gray tones), but if we exceed our goal by enough money, we'll be able to print it in full color. WHY A "COMIC BOOK"?We had a wonderful experience filming the Dirigible Days web series. However, it was a huge undertaking, requiring almost five months of weekend shoots (due to our day jobs) and hours upon hours of editing and effects work. Life, much like adventure, is inescapable. Currently, the schedules of the main cast are conflicted and unpredictable, and we've been unable to commit to another season in the near future. But the adventure continues, and we still have more story to tell. So, we're bringing the next chapter to life in the form of a graphic novel.

This way, we get a chance to branch out into another art medium where our only production limitation is the artist's imagination! Salazar Strega by Gary Lobstein and Jeff Gruhala BUDGETWhy does it cost $7,800 to print a comic book?  Here is a basic estimated breakdown of our costs to get this project done: - $2,200 - $2,600 (based on 1,250 printed copies) - $3,100 - $4,000Supplies/Fees/Marketing - $1,000 - $1,200 "Strega Cover" (left) by Chris Bailey; Art (right) by Jeff Gruhala ABOUT THE STORY:Dirigible Days: 998 takes place one year after the events in our web series. So, if you haven't watched the series yet, you may want to catch up before reading! One year after the fateful encounter with the Hierophant of the Cult of Cthulhu, adventure is still inescapable!Captain Santiago Dunbar, mute pilot Josie Devereaux, and witty engineer Hooper Jefferson return, along with new comrades Dr. Nella Chatterjee and navigator Mackie MacMillan, in an epic steampunk tale of airships, super robots, political plots and evil cultists.

When Captain Dunbar learns that his mentor—revolutionary and genius inventor Desmond Ellington—has been kidnapped by the Empire of Rabasa in order to complete a weaponized automaton colossus, the crew begins a perilous journey of danger and intrigue throughout Africa in order to discover the truth: from the skyland of Khara-Khoto, to the jungles of Kenzania, across the savannahs of Ethiopia, and into the desert ruins of Irem, City of Pillars. World War is on the horizon, but is this crisis caused by the warmongering government of Rabasa or masterminded by a familiar and malevolent enemy?THE COVER ARTIST :We are extremely fortunate to have Eisner award winning legendary comic artist and steampunk fan RICK BURCHETT drawing the cover art for Dirigible Days: 998. Rick has worked for both Marvel and DC Comics and is best known for his work on The Batman and Robin Adventures. THE INTERIOR ARTIST :CHRIS BAILEY is a breakout artist from Evansville, IN. His work graces the opening montage on every episode of Dirigible Days, and he has done many of the show's promotional art pieces.

Chris' unique, fluid style and history with the Dirigible Days crew makes him the perfect choice for this graphic novel. T-SHIRTS:We have two fun designs to choose from, but you'll need to decide if you are a villain or a hero! "Don't Be a Brasshole" features Captain Dunbar and "Brasshole" features Salazar Strega. And, if you are able to give at the $100 or up levels, you'll get BOTH! WHAT IF WE EXCEED OUR GOAL? If we exceed our goal, we'll be able to increase the print run, upgrade to a better quality book that's perfect bound, a full color book, or begin preparations for the next installment of Dirigible Days, whether that is another book, short film, web series season, or maybe even a musical!
