Another interesting thing to note about Johnny is the fact that when he makes friends, he keeps them for life. He has a great relationship with goth director Tim Burton and the 2 have made several movies together. He’s also a long-time best friend with Marilyn Manson and is often spotted with him on tour and in his music videos. They also have matching tattoos. Other pals of Depp are Winona Ryder and his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis.
4. He never hesitates to help others.

When Heath Ledger passed away, Johnny donated his salary for the movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus to his daughter. He donated $2 million to the hospital that treated Lily-Rose for an infection that caused kidney failure, as a thank you. He constantly works to give back and help others out and is rightfully the recipient of the Courage to Care award.
5. He’s a great father.

According to Lily-Rose, her parents are not controlling and they let her do whatever she wants. Despite his busy schedule, Johnny manages to find time for his children and spend quality time with them. He also has his daughter’s name tattooed on his chest.
6. He dresses up as “Jack Sparrow” and visits children in hospitals.

Knowing that Jack Sparrow is one of his most popular roles loved by kids, Johnny likes to surprise them. He visits sick children and makes them laugh. One time he remained fully in his character as the pirate for 5 straight hours while visiting BC Children’s Hospital.
7. He has a fossil named after him.

A fossil of an ancient extinct creature has been named — “Kootenichela deppi” by the scientist who discovered it. A relative of scorpions and lobsters, the fossil has scissor-like claws, just like Depp’s character, Edward Scissorhands.
