Albums

The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, as well as several compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 as a result of the collaboration.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen quit, and the band held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the band.

The album also featured a cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" that the band decided to include after hearing the song on the radio.
