Locate the battery hatch and ensure that it is set to "open." Make use of a flathead screwdriver, coin or another similar tool to turn the hatch open. After that, carefully remove the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook of the key-ring. Wear rubber gloves to protect the electronic contact surfaces.
After the battery has been removed, insert the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards, and that all clips are secured. Replace the battery, then snap to the fob.
Note: Older Volvos use a different type of battery one called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 10ths of a millimeter smaller than a CR2032 battery, which means you must be extra careful when placing the battery of your replacement.
