Upgrades to an item are an intricate process that takes time. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it could take as long as 8 hours. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated by using the item's new ilvl, perks, and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial statistics. In some instances, an upgrade can grant additional benefits.
