The 6.8 SPC is a very efficient cartridge as it uses the medium fast powders from H4198 to H335. When going from a 16"-20" barrel, you will generally see 75-125 FPS increase.
In terms of bullet weight, the 6.8 SPC fires heavier bullets than the 5.56. Typical factory loads for 5.56 range between 35 and 77 grains, however the 55 gr and 62 gr are the most common. Ammo for the 6.8 SPC can range between 75 and 120 grains, with the 115 grain bullet being the most popular by far.
I did a search first but found nothing specific to the 6.8 SPC. My rifle is a Stag with 22.77 inch barrel. SSA brass, Hornady bras, Barnes 85, 95, grain bullets and SMK 115 OTM. I've been using primarily Rx10 based on advice from other forums. The 115 OTM act like they will produce 1" or better...

The 6.8 SPC didn't have as nice a group as the 6.5PRC but there's a lot of difference between the rifles. The best group was 0.415" (100 yards) at 2,919 average fps. I may be at the end of H4198 though 28.6 is compressed according to Hodgdon (it wasn't with the 85grain TSX loaded at the Barnes COAL). My highest charge was 29gr.
