We do not collect your email address, phone number, or real name (beyond the optional display name you provide). We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone. We do not track your location in the background or when the App is closed. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies.
4. How We Use Your Data
Display name is used to personalize coaching cues and reminders. Height and weight are used to calculate estimated calories burned using MET formula. Running goals are used to customize training plan and paywall messaging. Workout history is used to track progress and show completion checkmarks. Location (GPS) is used to calculate real-time distance and pace during runs. Anonymous ID is used to link analytics and subscription data without identifying you. Usage analytics are used to understand feature adoption and improve the App. Remote Config is used to A/B test onboarding steps and paywall presentation.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Firebase (Google): Services used include Authentication (anonymous only), Analytics, and Remote Config. Data shared includes anonymous user ID, app usage events, and device info. Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
RevenueCat: Services used include subscription and purchase management. Data shared includes anonymous user ID and transaction receipts (from Apple). RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Apple (App Store / StoreKit): Services used include payment processing and subscription management. All payments are processed by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy
6. Location Data
GPS tracking is used exclusively during active running sessions to measure distance and pace in real time. Location data is processed entirely on your device, never uploaded to any server, and not stored after the session ends (only the total distance result is saved locally).
You can deny or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Location Services. If denied, the App estimates distance using workout duration and assumed pace.
7. Notifications
The App may send local notifications to remind you of scheduled training runs. These notifications are generated entirely on your device, not sent through any server or push notification service, configurable per day and time in the App's Settings under Reminders, and can be disabled at any time in iOS Settings under Notifications.
8. Data Storage and Security
All personal and fitness data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults). This data is protected by your device's passcode and biometric authentication (Face ID or Touch ID), iOS app sandboxing which prevents other apps from accessing your data, and device encryption enabled by default on modern iOS devices.
We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Anonymous analytics data is stored by Firebase under Google's enterprise security standards.
9. Data Retention
Local data persists on your device until you delete the App or use the "Change Program" feature to reset your training plan. Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's data retention policies (default 14 months for event data). Subscription data is managed by Apple and RevenueCat according to their respective retention policies.

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the App, please contact us at support@runner5k.app and we will take steps to delete it.
