Yongnuo EF YN 50mm F1.8 doesn't feel as plastic as you might first thought (with this price) and it isn't exact copy of Canon's 50mm lens either - it's like a bit fatter twin brother. There's fairly much plastic in YN50mm but it's still a bit lighter than Canon 50mm 1.8 II even though it's seemingly bigger.

I was actually looking at Yongnuo 50mm lenses last year, and trying to decide whether I should buy the cheaper Yongnuo or go for a genuine Canon lens. My understanding of the Yongnuo product is that it's a clone of the older Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, except that it has poorer image quality and a slower and noisier autofocus motor.
