5 Pushchair Tips From The Professionals
Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
If you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair to take them from A to B. strollers includes a variety of twin prams as well as double buggies in various configurations to suit your family needs.
Look for a stroller that can be folded in one step and then easily tucked away into your boot. You may also prefer an ultra-lightweight design, particularly in high traffic streets.
Side-by-Side
This is the most popular double pushchair. It can usually seat two children side by side. They are usually larger than single pushchairs. This can make them less agile on footpaths. It is also difficult to navigate through kerbs with an automobile seat is installed. However, the extra width can mean that they're usually easier to navigate through doors and are more evenly distributed making them easier to carry on your back.
They can be used as a twin pram from the beginning and a lot of models can accommodate a carrycot or two car seats. Some models can be converted to a single mode with a basket to the side (like the Cybex Venus).

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a great illustration of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat next to a carrycot. This creates an entirely enclosed twin room and is perfect for newborns. The pram also comes with a number of really cool accessories, including newborn cocoons that can be put on face either way (for twin-facing prams) or facing inwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as some other options, but it's really cleverly thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is renowned for its unique pushchairs, and the single-to double is no exception. The frame can be extended to accommodate a second seat. You can use the pushchair as twins from birth by putting in two newborn cocoons that cost PS59 each. These cocoons create lie-flat areas that are enclosed. It is also possible to use it as a mono mode with one child thanks to a large shopping basket that is placed behind the seat. It also comes with rear and front suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. The top choice from our reviewers.
Available in a variety of stylish colors.
Tandem
If you plan to have twins you will need a tandem pushchair. This will allow the children to sit together and interact with each one another. They are ideal for trips to the zoo as the children can look at the animals together. They are also great for parents who need to keep an eye on their toddler and the other on their child, as they can see both at the same time.
Some tandem pushchairs are extremely adaptable, as they can be converted back to single mode. This is especially useful if you're planning to have more than two kids (or only your oldest child does not require a buggy anymore). This means you won't be left with an empty pushchair to put away, which can be costly.
The Cybex Venus, for example is a model that can be used in double or mono mode. The frame can be expanded to accommodate a second seat. This isn't the heaviest of pushchairs, but it does come with a large basket for shopping that sits behind the front seat in double mode (and in the back of the seat in mono mode). The seats can be positioned in a way that they face each the other or higher to be able to see what the other is doing.
Other double tandem pushchairs like the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other or side-byside. The slim, sleek frame makes it easy to navigate through doorways and supermarket aisles. Certain models can be used on rough terrain or for an exercise walk due to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
Another advantage of a tandem pushchair is that it will often take two carrycots, or a car seat and a buggy seat. This means you can create a travel system from the beginning and save money on additional purchases. Be aware that tandems are heavier and longer and may be less stable when bumping up the kerbs or going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs must also be dismantled in order to fit into cars.
