5 Lessons You Can Learn From Three Wheeled Buggies

Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily, even in tight spaces.

If you're looking for a smooth ride on your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with a repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, the emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in rapid decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider variety of terrain, while still looking stylish and easy to push.

The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front, make it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and a 3 year old and found it coped well with grass, cobbles rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and require to be pumped up regularly, have built-in suspension. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is another thing to consider. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also require it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have a full lie-flat option while others allow a parent facing one.

A great choice for tackling off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child starting from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4, and includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. The storage options are excellent as well, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood and an easy-to-access pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability while driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. They also allow you to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful if you bump into the roots of a tree or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures so you'll need to keep a repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to easily climb and descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide and they may be a challenge to fit into tight spaces. This could be a problem if you are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through doorways that are narrow while traveling. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheel buggy can be easier to maneuver with children. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for difficult terrain like parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she wrote: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate on uneven terrain. The front swivel wheel was especially helpful." I was also impressed by how well it coped with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of if your home area is a city. If this is a concern then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better choice for you.

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also appreciated the spaciousness of this buggy.
