5 Card Omaha
Academy525 Card Omaha is an exciting game derived from Omaha. Each player is dealt five hole cards that are for that player only. In addition, five community cards are dealt face-up on the table. In 5 Card Omaha, all players use exactly three of the community cards and exactly two of their face-down cards to create the best five-card hand possible. No more and no less.
5 Card Omaha Variants-
Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha - a player can bet the amount in the pot (for example, Rs.1000 in a pot of Rs.1000). This is the most popular form of 5 Card Omaha.
No Limit 5 Card Omaha - a player can bet as much as he likes, up to all of his chips.
Play Card Omaha-
The name of Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha games refers to the size of the blinds (for example, Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha Rs. 100 / Rs.200 has an Rs.100 small blind and an Rs.200 big blind).
Each player is dealt with five cards face down and the action continues clockwise around the table starting with the player sitting under the gun (immediately to the left of the big blind).
Pre-flop-
After each player has viewed his or her face down cards, each player now has the option to play their own hand by calling or raising the big blind. The action starts to the left of the big blind, which is a live bet this round. That player can fold, call or raise. For example, if the big blind is Rs. 200, it costs Rs. 200 to call and at least Rs. 400 to raise. The action then continues clockwise around the table.
The betting round continues until all active players (who have not folded) have contributed the same amount of money to the pot.
The flop-
When the first betting round is over, the 'flop' is dealt face-up on the table. The flop consists of the first three community cards available to all active players. The game starts with the active player to the left of the player with the button. Another betting round takes place.
The turn-
After all, bets have been placed before the flop round, the 'turn' is dealt face-up on the table. The turn is the fourth community card in 5 Card Omaha. The game starts with the active player to the left of the player with the button. Another betting round takes place.
The river-
After all bets for the turnaround have been placed, the river is dealt face-up on the table. The river is the fifth and final community card in a 5 Card Omaha poker game. The active player to the left of the player with the button starts betting. A final betting round takes place.
The showdown-
If there are more players in play after the last betting round, the player who bet or raised last shows his cards. If there was no bet in the last round, the first player to the left of the button shows his cards first. The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. Remember, in 5 Card Omaha, players must use two of the five face-down cards, along with exactly three of the community cards. In the case of equal hands, the pot is split equally between the players with the best hand.
After the pot has been awarded, another round of 5 Card Omaha can be played.
Pot Limit and No Limit 5 Card Omaha-
The rules of 5 Card Omaha are the same for Pot Limit and No Limit variants, with a few exceptions:
Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha
The minimum bet in Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha is the same size as the big blind, but players can bet as much as there is in the pot.
Minimum raise: The raise must be at least as high as the previous bet or raise in the same betting round. For example, if the first player bets Rs.500, the second player must raise at least Rs.500 (the second player's total bet is Rs.1,000).
Maximum raise: the size of the pot. This consists of the total of the active pot plus all bets on the table plus the amount the active player must first call before raising.
Example: If there is Rs.10,000 in the pot and there has been no action in a particular betting round, a player may bet a maximum of Rs.10,000. After that bet, the action continues to the next player to his left. That player can fold, call Rs.10,000, or raise to any amount between the minimum (added Rs.10,000) and the maximum. The maximum bet, in this case, is Rs.40,000 - the raiser would first call Rs.10,000, making the pot Rs.30,000, and then raise an additional Rs.30,000, making the total bet Rs.40,000.
In Pot Limit 5 Card Omaha, there is no limit to the number of times that can be raised.
