5 Bullet Saturday

5 Bullet Saturday

Yaki

Have you ever heard of Tim Ferris? Chances are, you have. He's just the author of the best-selling book called, "4 hr Workweek." And today, I'm going to apply his 5 bullet Friday method with a little bit of twist. Instead of Friday, it will be every Saturday. So, what are the 5 bullets anyway?

The 5 Bullets can be the book that you're currently reading, person who inspires you the most (at the moment), music you're listening to, or a quote you're pondering on, or it can be anything. The purpose of 5 bullets is to reflect on your life. So, go ahead and create one for yourself. Tweak it to your liking!

My own Five Bullets

🔴Artist I'm listening to ㅡ LANY. This whole week I've been listening to LANY's four songs on repeat: Sign of our Time (cover), Hurts, Taking Me Back, and Valentine's Day. LANY's songs put me in the right mood as the beat and style of their music can indubitably make you want to sing along, move, or lay in the bed solemnly.

🔴Book I'm reading ㅡ 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris himself. I've been actually trying to finish it since last December 2018, but work has been getting in the way, so I can only read a couple of pages some days. The book itself is great. I've learned about the New Rich rules: D is for definition which builds the foundation of lifestyle design that includes eustress and relative wealth. E is for elimination which allows you to manage your time wisely. A is for income automation. Remember, make money works for you, not the other way around. The last one is L, which stands for liberation. This allows you to enjoy your life to the fullest by taking mini-retirements such as travelling remotely. In short, this is mobility. So far, the 4 hr workweek continues to make me think.

🔴New Website I Like ㅡ Product Hunt is the best place to lurk in to look out for cool, new, or existing products and websites. So, there I found the website rejected.us. It features people who got rejected from companies such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, AirBnB, and a lot more until they found their own niches and succeed. I am sucker for inspirational stories, and I've had a lot of failures as well, so this website reminds me of the often forgotten idiom when things look bleak: Life goes on. Don't cry over spilled milk. The sun will shine again.

🔴Friend I'm thankful for ㅡ My co-worker/friend Echo has been such a wonderful companion to me. He looks like the typical silent type, but he's actually one of the funniest person I've met and also the most generous one. The very first time we started talking was when we got home at the same time together from work, and he paid for my transportation fare when he handed his. If that's not kindness, I don't know what is. He had also given me chocolates a lot of times and treated me out thrice! It so happened that on these three occasions he paid for my meals was when I didn't have cash with me, and he would ask me what I would like to order and he'd say it's his treat. I would refuse it, but he'd insist. Such a nice creature! And it's mind-blowing how lucky I am to meet this person, and I am forever grateful. Echo helps me become a nicer person myself. He leads.

🔴Quote I'm pondering on ㅡ "The time you feel lonely is the time you most need to be by yourself." This was said by Douglas Coupland. I love what the quote implies, thus it has created a lasting impression on me. Many people turn to entertainment, drugs, and other people when they feel lonely, instead of sitting with the blues until it passes away. I guess, we all have to learn to deal with whatever negative emotions we have by ourselves ㅡ not escape it ㅡ in order to become mentally strong.

Your Turn

What are your five bullets for today? Write them out. You'll be surprised with what you come up with.
