S-Oil Championship 4R Rain Cancelled

1 stroke away from the championship

Sung Yoo-jin Sung kisses the trophy after winning the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour's Etosha Oil Championship at Elysian Jeju Country Club in Jeju City on Friday.

South Korea's Sung Yoo-jin, 23, was lucky to win in heavy rain.

Sung finished with a three-round total of 12-under-par 204 at the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour's S-Oil Championship, which concluded on Friday at the par-72 Elysian Jeju Country Club in Jeju, South Korea. She won by one stroke over runners-up Lee Ye-won (20) and Kim Jae-hee (22) to take home 162 million won. It was Sung's third trophy in six months and her first since the Doosan Match Play Championship in May.

The standings at the S-Oil Championship were determined by the results of the previous three rounds as the final four rounds of the five-day event were canceled due to heavy rain. The tournament organizers ultimately decided to end the tournament after suspending play twice at 11:45 a.m. and 2:09 p.m. The trophy went to Sung Yoo-jin, who led the tournament through three rounds.

In the fourth round, Sung looked to be slipping out of contention as she dropped five strokes with one birdie, four bogeys, and a double bogey by the 10th hole. However, she was lucky enough to take home the trophy after the fourth round was canceled due to heavy rain. Kim Jae-hee, who took a three-stroke lead into the 10th hole of the fourth round, finished in a tie for second place and will have to wait until next time for her maiden victory.

Sung said, "I had a really tough day today, but I was so lucky that I felt like the heavens gave me a gift. It feels great to get my second win of the season." Sung, who played two tournaments on the KLPGA Tour last month, as well as a qualifier for the LPGA Tour's Qualifying School, had a nosebleed earlier in the day. "It's a good win for my confidence (ahead of the final qualifier)," said Sung, who will try to make the LPGA Tour through the final qualifier, which starts in Alabama, U.S., on Sept. 30 (local time).

With the victory, Lee clinched the season's top spot in points (651) and money (approximately KRW 1.41 billion). 토토사이트
