If you need helpBrian Lamb stands in front of his largest 50' x 20' bifold door. He said he wanted the biggest doors he could get to fit his building and to give easy access to large farm machinery. Brian Lamb has been producing corn, soybeans and sweetcorn on 2,000 acres of prime Renville County farmland just southwest of Hector, MN since 1981.

He emphasized how fortunate he was to have what he called a "World Class" door manufacturer near his backyard and stressed the importance of doing business locally with an experienced builder to put up his machine shed and farmshop. He was of course alluding to Schweiss Doors and to Country Wide Lumber, both of which have Hector addresses. Lamb has Schweiss bifold liftstrap doors on a 80' x 150' cold storage building with a 50' x 20' door and a modern electric in-floor heated 65' x 72' shop with a 40' x 18' bifold door with a remote opener. Both doors are equipped with automatic latches, photo eye sensors and three 48" x 36" sliding windows to take advantage of available outside daylight. He works the land with help from his wife, Karyn, sons Karl and Clark, and brother, Curt. Lamb said he initially was introduced to Schweiss Doors on his father, Alex Lamb's farm north of Hector, who years ago also bought a Schweiss bifold door. That, coupled with the fact that he knew Schweiss company owner, Mike Schweiss, who he went to high school with and was active in its FFA program.

"When I got my first door I was interested in the straps. Bifold doors are nice for snow and you can park closer to your door. We went with the biggest doors we could fit in the space; if you have more you can fit in bigger and wider pieces of equipment. Our previous 14' x 24 shop was fine in 1975, but not now; machinery keeps getting bigger," explained Lamb. With spring planting just around the corner, Lamb has plenty of room to work on his machinery inside or out. The 50' bifold door provides a nice shaded canopy when open which helps keep the shop cooler during hot summer days. Everything is serviced and hooked up for spring planting. x 72' shop is long enough for him to drive his tractor and planter in without having to unhook it from the tractor. Ample headroom is what it is all about with this 20' tall cold storage shed door. The building is 80' x 150' giving him room to store most of his machinery. "We've had other fiberglass and steel overhead doors;

they don't last like these — my dad's bifold door is over 20 years old and still going. And if you have a cable bifold door, you can upgrade it with straps. Schweiss installed our doors quickly and really treated us fairly; they are fun people to do business with. We are extremely happy with the doors; the price was right, it was a real good value." "Schweiss service is phenomenal. We had a window leak one time and they came right out and fixed it — no charge. The remotes are really handy; we can open the door right from the tractor. We were happy to get them and the autolatches. I'd be ashamed to own a door that wasn't a Schweiss door. It's obvious he has a good business, and he brings business to Renville County," said Lamb. Lamb said what he likes most about his Schweiss doors is durability with heavy-duty tube steel construction. He cited the fact that they are heavy-built doors and good looking doors too.the price was right, it was a real good value," noted Lamb. He also said the doors seal well;

he had double rubber put at the bottom on the front and backside. Over the years he has highly recommended Schweiss doors to others telling them doing business with Schweiss is a "win-win" way to go. Brian Lamb's modern farmshop is well-lit and has electric in-floor radiant heat. He tested the temperature at floor level and ceiling height with a laser thermometer and the temperature is the same throughout his shop. His brother, Mike used the shop to ready his large RV for the road. Lamb had large 48" x 36" windows in both of his bifold doors. He said the windows let in natural light and make it easy for him to look outside. The Schweiss bifold liftstrap 40' x 18' shop door is equipped with autolatches and a remote opener. Five liftstraps and heavy-duty bottom drive motors open the bifold door quickly and quietly. Lamb's 40' bifold door has a 30" wedge. When open it provides a nice shaded canopy and keeps rain out of the farm shop. The farmshop bifold door on this 65' x 72' Country Wide Lumber building is 18' tall and 40' wide, big enough for almost all of today's modern machinery.
