3 Reasons You're Not Getting Upgrade Item Isn't Working (And The Best Ways To Fix It)
Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components
An upgrade item is a special item that will make certain Pokemon change. The Upgrade is obtained by spinning a PokeStop photo disc. It is sometimes offered as a prize at Pokemon GO events.
Upgrades can be used on armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools in order to raise their item level. The upgrade costs Flightstones and crests, dependent on the type of item.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be placed into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools to provide bonus effects or attribute bonuses while the equipment is being used. Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with an upgrade slot. The majority of upgrade components require that the item being upgraded is at a certain level. Some upgrade items also have special visual effects when applied to an equipment piece. Upgrade components can be obtained through crafting, purchased by Karma merchants, or traded with other players through the Trading Post. They can also be salvaged from equipment and used as rewards.
Various upgrade components are available, each of which offers an individual bonus. Universal upgrades, such as gems and inscriptions can be used in any type of equipment, and offer smaller bonuses than other types of upgrade components. Infusions are utilized in non-amulet equipment that is ascended and legendary equipment, while enrichments are utilized for certain items that are ascended back. Most upgrade components can be replaced when they are slotted into an item, but doing so can destroy the previous upgrade. The exceptions are glyphs (which can only be used in gathering tools) and Enchantments, which can be removed and reinserted freely.
Insignias, enchantments, and upgrades with prefixes or suffixes will be displayed in the hover display of the item, and they will be added to the equipment's name (e.g. a Radiant Insignia could change the name to Radiant Tyrian Armor). The tooltip of an item will show the number of upgrade components that have been added to it.
Glyphs
Glyphs are special characters that can be inserted into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements, such as ligatures, ornaments, fractions, swashes, registered trademark symbols and ellipses. The Glyphs panel allows you to view and insert these special characters, as well as standard glyphs such as em dashes, en dashes registered trademark symbols and glyphs that do not appear in other fonts (such as dingbats).
Each Glyph provides a character with a boost in primary stats. The glyph may also include up to four secondary stats that alter the radius of your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a percentage increase that is multiplied by other bonuses, except for Speed Glyphs that directly increase the hero’s speed.
Selecting the Glyphs and then clicking "enchant" will activate the Glyphs. This will bring up a new window that displays the Glyphs you have available that can be applied to the item you have selected. Be aware that only the correct type of Glyph can be applied to the selected item in that every weapon, jewelry or armor piece can have an array of different Glyphs.
You can increase the level of Glyphs by completing Tree of Whisper Quests or Nightmare Dungeons. The more difficult the Dungeon is, the more Glyph experience you will gain. Once a Glyph is at level 15 it can be upgraded on the Glyph Upgrade Altar. The upgrade of a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.
Once a Glyph has reached the desired level, it is possible to activate it. Select it and click the "enchant button". The Glyph you create will provide its stated benefit, and increase the number of nodes within its range on the Paragon Board. Glyphs should go where they will benefit your build the most. This is why you should prioritise Magic Glyphs as soon as possible. Rare glyphs could also provide double bonuses if certain conditions can be satisfied.
Click the cycle widget to change the perspective of the Glyphs Panel. Each of these views will display the Glyphs using a different font. You can reduce the number of glyphs by choosing an option below "Entire Font". For instance, punctuation only shows punctuation glyphs. Math Symbols restricts the selection to mathematical symbols.
Rerolling
Rerolling is a process in which you create a new account to give yourself more opportunities to pull an item or character you are interested in. This is done to to level up faster, or to gain better loot such as the purchase of a new weapon for your character. Many players reroll until they get the characters they like, regardless of their power. It could be because they like the style or the personality of the character.
When you reroll, you have to ensure that the changes you are making are clean. You should test locally whether the patch is approved by pre-commit and run a core dev check. You should also upload the patch to an issue by using plain diff (see What's the deal with an interdiff? ).
item upgrades can take days or weeks to complete, depending on the luck of the draw. To save time avoid enemy camps that are not required during this period. Also, avoid repeating quests that you can complete later on in the game. This will save you time and energy.

Upgrading is a great way to bring popular single-set items into the same level as their higher-tier set counterparts. For instance upgrading Guillaume's Face helm to an Elite Spired Helm boosts the defense from 217 to 321 and reduces the strength requirement and level requirement to a lower range.
However, it's important to note that not all set items are suitable candidates for upgradation. Some sets, like the FB Sorc spec Whistan's shield and Naj's puzzler staff, are already Exceptional in their own rights and don't require upgrading. On the other hand, some items that are BiS and see frequent use (like Goldwrap) may benefit by being upgraded to boost their performance. It might be worthwhile to upgrade these items.
