which you'd never know if all you read were the lame descriptions of this series. This is a fact-based presentation on just one city in Britain (one of DOZENS of cities), where non-Muslim British and Sikh girls were targeted by Pakistani men for sexual abuse and rape. As bad as that is, the real horror of this true series is that this went on for YEARS, and the police and politicians did virtually nothing, because of fear of offending Muslims. But this series isn't just a hatred and loathing some adherents of one religion have for anyone not of their faith. It's also an example of class war, because the girls targeted and abused are poor. Members of the lower classes simply are treated as trash, at least in the town in this documentary, the idea being that girls "like this" would wind up being slovenly types of loose sexual mores anyway. Many of the victims live in single-parent households, in council housing (the equivalent of Section 8 housing here.) Why upset the fragile fiction that Islam isn't causing a massive cultural dislocation in Britain? It was only through the efforts of a social worker who wouldn't give up trying to get the powers that be to take notice of these girls, and the pattern of Islamic grooming gangs who targeted them, who caused anything to happen. Politicians and high ranging police chiefs lost their jobs (only to be rehired in other towns, which, not coincidentally, have a Muslim grooming gang problem.) Estimates are that tens of thousands of girls over decades, all over the country, have been victimized by such gangs. How this could have happened, how Brits could've had (and in some cases, still have) so little concern about the welfare of these girls is beyond fathoming. The grooming gang menace continues to this day. As I said, the girls are from a lower class background; their accents in this series are very heavy and sometimes hard to understand. I recommend turning on the subtitles feature when you watch it, and you should watch it. This series stunned the Brits when it ran. It is a lesson any country who would like to be aware of such horrors should know about, hopefully before it visits itself upon them.

If this was from original transcripts as stated, I'm furious that the prosecution could get away with treating the underage girls as if they had a choice or as if they were manipulting grown men just to buy them food and alcohol. This gets very redundent hearing the same statements by the girls repeatedly. This series should have been an hour or an hour and a half at the most.

Just once I would like to see a realistic show that depicts the child getting an abortion. What is everyone so scared of?

True story I think I remember something in the news about it the police were afraid to prosecute because the girls white from the wrong side of the tracks and the offenders were Arabic men from the rule of 30 to 50 years old how sad they were so afraid of being accused of racism that let they let hundreds of girls get sexually abused. So much for Liberal Britain but could also see this happening here in the United States. One problem I had was I'd never seen a psychologist or any Mental Health offered to the victims. But that's a whole nother story

This series deals with the grim reality of how a group of men abused a shocking number of girls and how the adults who should have helped them - failed them. The treatment of the material is brilliant. Impeccable portrayal of the scenes and the confused reality of the girls. It is difficult, but it's well worth watching. The acting is outstanding. Excellent writing, held together by some of Britain's best actors who are clearly invested in the story. One thing's for certain: This kind of slavery is happening everywhere. Maybe this series will affect some changes.

It takes a lot to keep me off my phone while watching television... this was a horrific car crash you couldn't look away from. The story of these girls is one of heartbreak, and the history and injustice behind those victims and more is horrendous. The dramatization is one that is aligned with historical accounts and the follow-up of the stories demonstrates the kinds of changes we need in the judicial and social services systems.
