3. Confrontation with God

The 100-year-old Sycamore stood between the small historic St. Paul's Chapel (1766) at Trinity Church and the World Trade Center. The brunt of the impact of the debris from the collapsing Twin Towers caused the tree to fall. It fell in such a way that its spreading branches created a shield that protected and preserved St. Paul's Chapel and ancient gravestones from falling debris and the great steel beam of the North Tower.

The day after September 11, 2001, Senate Majority Leader Thomas Daschle read Isaiah 9:10.

The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

On September 11, 2004, US Vice Presidential candidate Johnny Edwards read the prophecy of Isaiah 9.10 to Congress:

"Good morning. Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the word of the Lord to help us get through this. "The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars."

... And let me show you how we build and plant cedars in these three sacred places - the footprints of the Towers, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania field. ...Walk with me through this day.

And you will see that while these bricks were falling and the sycamore trees were being cut down, our people are raising these cedars. ... Every time this bell rings, it calls us to a greater purpose. It encourages us to never forget.

It calls us to do the Lord's work here on earth. And he calls us to always remember that as we walk through this day together, the cedars will rise, the stones will rise, and this time of hope will last.”

The World Trade Center Twin Towers are ''bricks'' that have fallen.

The smooth, polished stone at Freedom Tower was laid on the site of the fallen Twin Towers in 2004.

This stump is all that remains of the 100-year-old Sycamore.

Cedar planted in 2003 to replace a sycamore tree that burned on September 11, 2001.

In 2012, President Obama inscribed a beam on the World Trade Center's One World Tower. The tower stands on the site of the twin towers destroyed on November 9, 2001. Inscription:

We remember

We're rebuilding

We are coming back stronger

This inscription speaks of the stubbornness and persistence in sin of the American elite. They do not want to submit to the sentence passed by God.

The American elite is blind. They quote the Bible to justify themselves, even though this text of the Bible condemns them. They took a few words out of context. If you read the entire text, it becomes clear that God condemns them.

8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

17 Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.

20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

In fact, the restoration of the World Trade Center and the planting of cedar instead of sycamore is a symbolic act demonstrating the tenacity of the American elite in the fight against God. According to God's plans, the United States should have been destroyed on September 11, 2001.
