Nowadays, it's hard to imagine a world without suction vibrators, but up until a few years ago, that was reality. There are more vibrators that don't look like vibrators than ever, which is not only great for those who wanna be discreet, but also for buyers who want a little more from their sex toys than the same old design.

Post-CES, Bryony Cole, Lovehoney's Sextech expert, wrote on their site that quieter vibes were one of the biggest improvements to look forward to in 2021. It makes sense when you think about everyone staying at home this past year. If you're already all up in your roommates' business at home, a silent vibrator could be the difference between a happy shared space and a super awkward one.
Cole also wrote that sex toy shoppers could "expect to see more recycled materials such as ocean plastics, vegan leathers, soy-based inks, and aluminum making their way into products," which is v. exciting! Just recently, the Gaia biodegradable vibrator made headlines with its recyclable bioplastic design, and it's great to see that more sustainable options are front and center for sex toy designers.
Nowadays, it seems like most sex toys are rechargeable, which is awesome from both an environmental perspective and a pleasure perspective. Not only do you have less to throw out, but rechargeable toys tend to be much stronger and better quality than battery-operated toys. While it's great that there's been a huge industry shift to rechargeable toys in general, Cole mentioned that faster charging times via induction charging pads could also be on the horizon.
Both Chang and Cole pointed to changing attitudes around embracing pleasure as one of the biggest trends in sex toys. "Pleasure is now recognized as a part of one’s overall well-being and is openly embraced," Chang explained. The conversation about pleasure also seems on track to be become more inclusive — Cole wrote on the Lovehoney site that "if the conversation in 2020 was about normalizing sex, the conversation in 2021 is set to diversify it," — which is a trend that we can all get behind.
