Hello my name is Linda and this is Susan, May I ask your name?
Jamie
It's nice to meet you Jamie. We're here because everyone at one point or another faces a loss of a loved one. If I may ask where do you think we can find reliable help for dealing with grief.
Hmm, I think friends and family are a big help.
We agree. Their support is invaluable. There is another source of help available to us to notice what we read in this Bible passage. Susan, would you read that please?
Sure, 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.”
Thank you, according to these verses then what help can God offer?
Hmm, It says that he comforts us in all our trials.
That's right. And he really wants to do that. Did you notice how he's described in verse 3?
The Father of Tender Mercies.
Yes The God of all comfort, one way comforts us is by teaching us the truth about what happens when a person dies. Perhaps we can come back another time and share with you the Bible's comforting message on that topic.
Thank you. I would like that.
