How to Replace the Ignition Key in the Saab9-3

It's probably time to replace your SAAB key fob if you're having difficulty turning the barrel of your lock. It's a simple process and you don't need to visit a dealership. You can complete the process at home using just a few basic tools.
First, you'll need to prepare the new key. Before you start, be sure that the anti-theft device is disabled by placing blocks on your rear wheels, and then adjusting the handbrake. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position. This will activate the accessories but it will not start the engine. Repeat this five times, and then leave the key in the on position.
Next, you'll need to find a new case for the old key fob. You can find them at any auto parts store and they're typically very affordable. Based on the model, you could even get them without any electronics.
To open the case, gently push the flathead screwdriver into the slot in the middle. The Keylab should break easily, and when you've done that, you'll have access to the internal electronics. To remove the electronics, use a small flathead screwdriver and attempt to pull them out in a gentle manner.
