20 Trailblazers Lead The Way In Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading their performance. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They boost the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a professional or higher salvage kit to recover upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be heavier.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Some upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be gathered through exploring the surroundings and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.
A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is generally not worth the extra weight and power cost of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. For example, an upgrade may enhance the damage caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of weapon upgrades require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. upgrade item can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost that is based on a specific number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Before you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to an increased quality. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has minimal upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress faster. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones, which you must attain certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.
The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is usually performed for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades players can also get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with various small, but valuable, advantages. They are available in the starter area as loot or personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after the completion of road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It is better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the start of the game. Mid and top players however they will select either a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices can impact a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, like completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
