How to unlock Your Vehicle
Modern electronic key fobs offer more convenience and functions compared to manual keys. Batteries will eventually wear out and require replacement. If your Volvo key fob has started to malfunction intermittently, it's an indication that the battery is getting old and will need replacing soon.
You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following few steps. First, locate a clean work surface to begin the process. Make a list of all the tools you'll require. Find the battery hatch, and ensure it is set to "open." Make use of a flathead screwdriver, coin or a similar tool to make the hatch off. Then, carefully pull out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook on the key-ring. Use rubber gloves to protect the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

Once the fob has been opened, locate the CR2032 3V battery and take it off. Replace the battery and snap back together the fob.
Note: Some older Volvo models have different types of batteries that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of millimeters thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you must be aware of the location of your replacement.
