20 Fun Facts About Robot Vac
Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests also have good obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike auto vacuum or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or via the app.
In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and sweep an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households and can fit nicely on the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like the magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and an Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to sweep the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second time is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home It's no surprise that they're also one of the top mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to learn and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it didn't do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for longer. They also include two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's picking up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and set schedules. Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock for charging at the push of the button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot should you need to. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border without ever registering the high point. Also, the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
