The origins of the card
The hands free card of Renault is an international success. It has become an integral part of the daily life of car owners. It was first developed twenty years ago and is now among the most popular innovations within the company. In the years following the card was hailed as a revolutionary innovation and is now available on two out of three Renault vehicles. Renault has chosen to use the latest features of smartphones to enhance the hands-free cards, even though it appears that they are about to replace it.
The keyless entry system

The hands-free card from Renault was a groundbreaking piece of technology when it was first introduced 20 years ago. The exterior of the card is identical however the technology has been upgraded to make it easier to use and harder to hack.
It can't be used from outside to open doors or start the car unless the driver has activated it. This is because radio signal antennae "around" the car are set up to determine whether the key is located outside or inside it. The key will continue to turn the ignition from a distance, but not unlock the doors. This is for your safety.
The second is that the system's wireless remote control transmissions employ a rolling-code. This reduces the chance of security being compromised by someone intercepting and retransmitting a control message to gain access but doesn't eliminate the threat completely. [1]
