An Amber Alert for two young girls allegedly abducted by their own father from a crime scene in Kansas City on Sunday has been canceled as the siblings have been found "unharmed," authorities said. However, the girls' father, who is a homicide suspect, remains at large.
In its latest update on Amber Alert 2022-7 issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Sunday evening, the agency said the alert has been canceled as sisters Marlaya Owsley, 7, and Cassiah Owsley, 4, have been "located unharmed."

The MSHP said the vehicle used by suspect Jordan Maurice Owsley when he abducted his two children has been recovered, but that Owsley, who has been accused of committing a homicide at the 1300 Block of 89 th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, at around 4 p.m. Sunday, is still being hunted by the authorities.
The Amber Alert was issued after the Kansas City Police Department said Owsley was seen in a white Kia Optima heading westbound on East 89 th Street. Authorities said it is believed the man was armed at the time of the girls' abduction, ABC affiliate KMBC-TV reported.

Police said Owsley is suspected of killing the victim of a homicide on 89 th Street, adding that investigators believe Owsley's children were at the crime scene when the homicide took place, local KY3 News reported.
Owsley has been accused of shooting and killing a person associated with the children's mother. He took the young girls "forcibly," Kansas news outlet KAKE reported. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim pending notification of the victim's family.
Authorities have described Owsley as a 27-year-old with blue eyes, weighing 140 lbs. and standing at 5'4" in height. Police said Owsley is "armed with a firearm."

News of the girls' abduction and being found came just days after 7-year-old Ana Cristina Torres Medina was found about a day after she was last seen at College Station in Texas. Medina's disappearance became a nationwide Amber Alert late last week.
Authorities said at that time that Medina was found safe in Jim Hogg County, which is located near the U.S.-Mexico border. Police also revealed that Pedro Aranda Jimenez, 36, was taken into custody for a warrant, although no details were immediately provided about Jimenez's relation to Medina's case.

Two girls mysteriously found dead along the same Florida canal have been identified by police as sisters.
Shortly after noon on Tuesday, police received a 911 call reporting a body floating in the water, close to a neighborhood, Lauderhill police Lt. Michael Santiago told ABC News Wednesday morning.
Police later learned she may have been associated with another girl, Santiago said. Around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, another 911 call came in reporting that a second girl, about the same age, was found dead in the canal, further northwest, he said.
On Wednesday afternoon, police revealed that the two girls were sisters.
Destiny Hogan, 9, was discovered first, authorities said. She was pulled from the water wearing blue jean shorts and a gray shirt with the word "Dance" on it.
Her sister, Daysha Hogan, 7, was pulled from the water nearby later that day, wearing a tan shirt and flower pajama pants, police said.
There were no apparent signs of trauma, and neither girl was reported missing, police said.
Police are treating their deaths as "suspicious," Lauderhill Lt. Mike Bigwood said during a press briefing.
"We are definitely treating it as if it was a criminal investigation," Bigwood said, adding that police are "looking at all possible angles," including family.
The medical examiner's office has not yet released a final ruling on the manner and cause of death, Bigwood said.
The sisters were last seen alive with their mother on Monday around 5 p.m., Bigwood said. It is unclear when they first went into the water, he said. The three lived together in the neighborhood where the sisters were found, police said.
Their mother is a person of interest in the case and has not been questioned yet, Bigwood said. Her current whereabouts were not revealed by police.
Police are investigating reports that the mother was recently offering to baptize people in the canal, Bigwood said, and asked anyone with information on the family to contact the police.
"We're making a plea to the public, and specifically the community of central Lauderhill, to please, if you know the family, if you know the children, if you're familiar with the relationship, if you're familiar with any churches, organizations that the family may be part of, please call us," he said. "We desperately need to know what these relationships are and put some context to how this may have happened."
