A virtually extinct base-model Mk2 Ford Granada 2.0L with just 39,987 miles! Bright bumpers with centre pads, bright drip rail, remote control door mirrors, laminated windscreen, bodyside protective moulding, anti-burst door locks, childproof rear door locks, adjustable lumber support, two-spoke soft feel steering wheel, heated rear window, hazard lights, dual tone horn, variable intermittent wipe, fabric covered front and rear centre armrest, trinket tray, illuminated ashtray, glovebox with lock, stratified heating system, Ford P21 MW/LW push button radio.

This fabulous and very rare survivor is finished in solid Cardinal Red, (Colour Code XSC1592), which gleams brightly along with all the mirror finish chrome. Factory panels have linear gaps and all glass, trim and lenses are unmarked. Dealer number plates remain with the car and a few barely noticeable dings can be seen to the doors and roof, (please refer to subsection History for explanation). Forming part of the Granada Guild and featured on the front page of Issue 19 of Granada News, this car has enjoyed the show circuit and presents in an exceptional manner today. A tiny undulation to one rear arch will not dampen an enthusiasts desire to own a truly unique example. Owing to the low mileage and cosseted ownership the Grey Truro fabric seat trim and door cards, cut pile carpets and factory materials throughout are exemplary. The intricate seat pattern is still clearly visible having been protected by wooden beaded seat covers, still included! The headlining is tight and spotlessly clean and all controls function correctly including the Quartz clock and three speed heating fan.

Two hairline dash splits are barely visible and the boot area is as new with the liner and even the factory colour code sticker in place. Comfortable perfection and exactly how Ford intended. Simplicity, reliability, economy and excellent parts availability are just a few reasons why the 2.0 litre OHC engine with breakerless ignition is a great choice. With 74bhp a top speed of 104mph and 0-60mph in 11.3secs are quoted. The engine bay is very clean with factory stickers, plates and stampings clearly visible and suitable for bonnet up exhibiting. The 4-speed all synchromesh gearbox with cable operated self-adjusting single plate diaphragm spring clutch is light, precise and a joy to use. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Styled 14 x 6 inch steel road roads with plastic centre caps are unmarked and fitted with chrome embellishers. New Vredestin Sprint Classic 175 HR14 tyres are fitted all-round and the spare still retains the factory fitted Uniroyal item from new. Hydraulic dual line vacuum servo-assisted front discs and rear drums have been recently overhauled offering surefooted performance.

A fascinating and fully documentated history file waits to be presented to the new owner. Registered new on the 4th February 1983 by Charles King Motors Ltd to business owners Mr John and Mrs Sheila Field of A.M Leath & Partners. It remained in their care for nine years until 1992 when Granada enthusiast, Mr Richard Slaughter, purchased the car. As a fanatical and proud Granada owner this vehicle remained in his care until March 2014 enjoying the show circuit and in the Granada Guild until illness took hold in 2004 and the vehicle went into a garage block. Unbeknown to the owner some damage occurred by small items being thrown through the ventilation bricks, hence the two small dings in the roof. When discovered his pride and joy was driven home and remained at his property unused. Purchased by Mr Squire in March 2014 after intense interrogation by Mr Slaughter and under promise that the vehicle will be put back to show condition and returned for him to inspect! A recent feature in Februarys 2016 Classic Ford magazine and a detailed thread on Retrorides confirms this vehicle is ready once more to entertain spectators.
