You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following couple of steps. First, you must locate a clean work surface to perform the procedure. Then, lay out all of the tools you require. Then, locate the battery's hatch, and turn it open using an open-ended flathead, coin, or other similar tool. Then, carefully remove the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook for the key-ring. Use rubber gloves to protect the clips and electronic contact surfaces.
After the battery has been removed, insert the new one in its socket. Make sure that the positive end of the battery is facing up and that all clips are seated. Slide G28CarKeys towards the key-ring until it becomes loose, and it falls off. Then, you can remove the cover and reveal the mechanical key blade that is hidden within. You can use it to unlock your car from the driver's door in the event that you've lost or damaged the key fob.
How to Start Your Vehicle

Modern vehicles come with keyfobs that can do more than simply unlock and lock the doors. They can also be used for other handy functions like summoning and auto-parking the vehicle. In fact, the brand new Volvo XC60 can even remotely start your engine by using its key fob buttons. But how exactly does it work?
First, locate a clean work surface where you can lay out all of the necessary items for this project. Then, lay the fob down on the work surface, with its Volvo logo facing upwards. Utilize a flathead, coin, or other similar tool to flip open the battery hatch. Be careful not to touch the electronic contact surfaces with your tools. This could cause the fob to cease working properly.
Once the hatch is opened, slide the battery into its socket. Make sure the positive (+ side) is facing up. Once the clips are fixed Replace the battery cover and reassemble the fob.
Pressing the unlock button one time will disable the alarm and open the driver's door. By pressing it a second and then you can unlock all doors and the tailgate. The unlock button is useful to roll down the windows to let in fresh, cool air on a hot summer's day. If you're in the market for more features, the key fob may also be used to turn on ERS, which will start your vehicle's climate control system and allow it to cool or warm it to the desired temperature settings when the vehicle is in a parking spot.
How do I change the battery?
If your key fob no longer locks or unlocks your car, it could be time to replace the battery. The battery can be replaced with a flathead screwdriver, plastic pry bar or other small tools. First find the small slot where the backup / emergency metal ignition key used to be. Insert the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into the slot and gently pry open the back of the key fob. Once you have opened the fob, locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Place a new battery in its place, and join the fob.
Note: Older Volvos use a different type of battery, the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have a thickness of 7 tenths one millimeter less than CR2032 So you'll need to be very careful when replacing your battery.

How to unlock the Hidden Key Blade
The keyfobs of Volvo have evolved in recent years. The key fobs are more than just a device to lock and start your car. They can also lower the windows and provide an extra boost when you need it. To unlock the full potential of your key fob first, you'll have to master how to use it.
The key fob you have in your possession has an transponder chip programmed to your Volvo. When you insert it into the ignition barrel, an antenna reads its code and compares it with the one stored in your vehicle's start inhibitor module. If the codes do not match, your vehicle will not start. This is a crucial anti-theft feature that will stop your Volvo car from being started if you use a wrong key.
If you lose your key in the event of a loss, you'll need to bring it to a dealership to have it repaired and your car changed. The process can take up to 10 working days and cost a lot of cash. However, there is an option to reduce some of the costs by doing the programming at home. You can locate the necessary information in the owner's manual or on the internet. Take off the logo and non-logo covers and place your key fob on a clean surface. Locate the grey button on the right side of the fob and press it down. The cover will then be opened to reveal the CR2032 3V battery.
