Busan KCC defeated Ulsan Hyundai Mobis 81-76 in the final of the 2023 MG Saemaul Bank KBL Cup Tournament at Wolmyeong Gymnasium in Gunsan on Friday afternoon to win the title. This is the first time KCC has ever won the cup. Johnson, who received 43 of 71 votes from the media, was named the tournament MVP.



KCC started with Jung Chang-young, Heo Woong, Choi Jun-yong, Lee Seung-hyun, and Alize Johnson. Hyundai Mobis countered with Kim Tae-wan, Kim Kook-chan, Lee Woo-seok, Ham Ji-hoon, and Gage Prim.


Johnson poured in a single game-high 40 points in the quarterfinals against KT. However, he was outmuscled and outplayed against Prim. Prim poured in six points and attacked the basket to his heart's content. Lee Woo-seok also hit two three-pointers. Hyundai Mobis took the lead with an 18-4 run.

KCC newcomer Johnson led all scorers with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Heung (15 points, two three-pointers) and Choi Jun-yong (11 points, four rebounds) followed.


Hyundai Mobis was led by Prim (20 points, 1 rebound) and Lee Woo-seok (18 points, 10 rebounds), but couldn't get over the hump in the closing minutes.
