The Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble-led series The Sex Lives of College Girls follows Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney as they navigate their freshman year at the prestigious Essex College in Vermont. The four suitemates go through the highs and lows of college life together, as they try to figure out their place on campus and discover who they are.
As college freshmen, Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney are around 18 years old. But IRL, how old are the actresses who portray them? What about the upperclassmen and friends that they meet in their first trimester at Essex, such as Leighton’s brother Nico and Kimberly’s Sips coworker Lila? The answers might surprise you. As you stream season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls (which debuted on HBO Max on November 17!) , here’s everything you need to know about the cast’s real ages.
She portrays 18-year-old Kimberly Finkle, but Pauline Chalamet is the oldest of the quad squad. Born January 25, 1992, she is 30 years old.
Alyah Chanelle Scott, who plays soccer star Whitney Chase, is a bit closer to her character’s age. She turned 25 years old in July.
At 29 years old, Amrit Kaur is the second-oldest out of the Essex College suitemates. That makes her about 11 years older than her character, Bela Malhotra.
At 22 years old, Reneé Rapp is closer in age to a college senior than a college freshman. But that means she’s only about four years older than her character, Leighton Murray, and is the youngest of the group.
Ilia Isorelýs Paulino plays fan-favorite character Lila, a student at Essex and Kimberly’s hilariously witty coworker at Sips Café. In real life, Ilia’s 27 years old, so she’s a little less than 10 years older than her Sex Lives of College Girls character.
Canaan, portrayed by Christopher Meyer, is also an Essex student and Kimberly’s other Sips coworker. He’s also Whitney’s love interest throughout season 1 and into season 2. IRL, Christopher is 28 years old.
Mekki Leeper plays Eric, editor of Essex’s prestigious comedy group, The Catullan. Eric is likely between ages 18 and 20, which would mean Mekki is about eight or nine years older than his character.
Mitchell Slaggert portrays Jackson, a newcomer and transfer student at Essex College in season 2 of The Sex Live of College Girls . Considering he’s in the same dorm building as Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney, it’s assumed that he’s also a freshman. In this case, at age 28, Mitchell is about a decade older than Jackson.
Lauren “Lolo” Spencer plays Jocelyn, an Essex College freshman who lives in Kimberly, Bela, Whitney, and Leighton’s dorm building. In a 2019 interview with CNN , the actress opened up about her ALS diagnosis at age 14 and how she’s lived with the disease for 18 years. According to the article at the time of publication, Lauren was in her early 30s, which would mean she’s likely in her mid-30s now.
Gavin Leatherwood, aka Nico, departed The Sex Lives of College Girls after season 1, but as Kimberly’s love interest, he certainly left an impression. It’s revealed in episode 1 of season 2 that his character is 21 years old, but in real life, Gavin is 28.
Alicia is Leighton’s girlfriend in season 1 of the HBO Max series, but they keep their relationship a secret since Leighton is still closeted. She’s also a student at Essex, but is 28 years old in real life.

Drew Barrymore won’t be building a sex room anytime soon.
The talk show host sat down on her podcast Drew’s News , where she and guest Ross Matthews discussed the Netflix series How to Build a Sex Room , which is hosted by luxury interior designer Melanie Rose . The conversation turned to whether they would want to build one of these kinky spaces in their own home, to which Barrymore admitted she’s not interested.
While Barrymore said she is a “dirty bird,” she clarified that it’s only in “the corners of my mind where I never will tell, [where] it’s just for me.”
“I can understand certain kinky things. Listen, I’ve tried everything…that’s why I’m so boring now,” she continued. “I don’t know if I was into it or not, I just wanted to try everything.”
The 50 First Dates star, who shares two children with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, said that she’s perfectly OK with vanilla sex as a single woman. She joked, “I'm fine in the bed, mish posish,” referring to missionary position.
While she may not be into particularly freaky sex these days, Barrymore said that she’s feeling very grateful in her life.
“If my fetish was gratitude, I would be ‘gasming in a corner 24/7,” she said with a laugh.
Barrymore has previously spoken about her relationship to sex before. In a September 2022 conversation on her talk show, she responded to reports that Andrew Garfield chose to abstain from sex while filming the movie Silence .
“What’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem like a very long time? I was like, ‘Yeah so?’” Barrymore said at the time.
In a blog, titled “Rebels Who Love,” the Charlie’s Angel star wrote about how her words made some people think she “hated sex” — which was not the case. In fact, she shared that it took her a long time, and a lot of therapy, in order to “come to the epiphany that love and sex are simply not the same thing,” as she believed when she was a young party girl in Hollywood.
“I am just in a completely different place in my life and maybe in the near future I will get into a relationship … but it simply hasn’t been my priority," she wrote. "So I’m not a person who needs sex and has to go out there and engage with people on that level. I am someone who is deeply committed to fostering how young girls, my daughters, and myself as a woman, are supposed to function in this world! A relationship with a man has not been top of mind for me for a very long time.”

MILTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont’s only nude resort is closing after nearly 60 years. As Calvin Cutler reports, former campers are remembering the good times.
Along the shores of Long Pond in Milton lies the Coventry Club, a 46-acre campground where people from across the world swap swimsuits for birthday suits.
“Our second day here, we fell in love with the place and the people. It’s a big family, you can’t find anyone better,” said Gentle Bear, who along with countless other campers has celebrated the nude way of life.
We visited and spoke with the owners back in 2017. Coventry bills itself as a family-oriented naturist club and campground, providing a fun and safe environment. Around 100 people would visit every year, embracing the great outdoors and body acceptance. Gentle Bear has spent the last five summers there. “We come in May and we leave in October. This is the end of it,” he said
In a letter to members posted earlier this month, the owners announced the sale of the campground, looking forward to retirement. They tried to find a buyer to keep Coventry as a nude resort. Instead, the land will now be sold to a family.
“This is the only place like this in the Northeast and maybe in the U.S.,” said Mark Ozenich. He says Thanksgiving will mark 20 years since he first came to Coventry as a camper. He lives there year-round but will now likely have to leave Vermont. “Housing in Vermont is Vermont and housing for a senior citizen is even scarcer, so it leaves me scrambling for a place to live.”
The state of Vermont is a unique place when it comes to nudism. It’s fully legal to be naked in public but it’s illegal to disrobe in public. Statewide, there are several nude beaches and events including the annual Montpelier Naked Bike Ride.
“I would say it’s a natural way of being,” said Erich Schuttauf with the American Association for Nude Recreation. He says spending time outdoors au naturel goes back hundreds of years to America’s founding. “We all carry scars, we all carry a few pounds that we could use -- most of us. Once you realize people are people, it is a very freeing experience.”
Back in Milton, there has been an outpouring of support from former campers young and old, saying Coventry gave them the space to live their best lives and be free.
